I’m All About Improving The Image of Beer

And i’m fanatical about refuting the misconception that wine is somehow superior to beer.  I’m obsessed with arguing for beer’s equality with (and in some situations, superiority to) wine.

But some things need to be off-limits.  Moments ago i cracked open a Saranac Pale Ale — which is a fine beer.  But on its label it uses the word “bouquet” as a synonym for “aroma”.

And that’s just wrong.

The word “bouquet” should never be used on a beer label.  The words “bouquet” and “beer” should never appear in the same sentence, except in a statement explaining how they do not belong together.

Beer has a smell.  It has an aroma.  Hell.  Under certain circumstances it might, might have a nose.  But i’ll be damned if it has a bouquet.  I think this episode may have given me the vapors.

I agree, beer has a smell, not a bouquet! Sometimes trying to be classy makes you look lame.

I used to love Saranac when I lived in NH. Sadly, I have not seen a bottle of it since I moved to Florida.
